Sheffield Utd Rinse & Repeat

Rinse repeat

Rinse repeat steve bruce in a nutshell. Before the new co-owners arrived. Aston Villa’s future looked very bleak. In a short amount of time, they have shown real intent. Not only have they enabled us to keep our best players who were destined for the exit door a few weeks ago. They have helped us to add some real quality loans players. This gives us the best chance of promotion. But it is allowing Steve Bruce to Rinse and repeat. Every villa fan must be elated with the business done. Forgetting the CB issue of course. But you can’t have everything. So it’s over to Steve Bruce now. He’s been given the tools to go one better than last season. No pressure then. Well, there plenty in reality But certainly no valid excuses for failure come May.

Today we visit Sheffield United. I’m sure we all remember the 90th-minute winner Robert Snodgrass got in January up there. I can only describe that evening as a smash and grab raid. We were dominated throughout the first half. Sam Johnstone made a couple of great saves to keep the score at 0-0 going into half time. We showed a little more intent after the break. Again it was Sam Johnstone who came to our rescue. Right at the end tipping a header over the bar to secure all 3 pts.

Chris Wilder comments following the game

“It’s bittersweet really. We’ve gone toe-to-toe with Championship sides which shouldn’t really be in the Championship.

“Their goalkeeper made some fantastic saves, and the finish at the end comes from a player who has played in the Premier League and at international level.

“But we’re talking top-end Championship football and while we’ve not had the luck that we’ve needed to win a tight game I can’t be too critical.”

We have an excellent away record against Sheffield United. We have won 5 of our last 7 fixtures. Drawing 1. Losing 1,

After Leeds and Boro ended in a draw last night. It’s a chance to make up lost ground. We could get back within 2pts before the international break. As it stands were 4 pts and 14 places better off than this time last season. After 6 games last season we were sitting on 6pts in 18th place. Let’s make sure that we are 6pts and 15 places better off later today by winning.

And take our opportunities when they arise. That was one of our Achilles heels last season. We failed to take advantage. Today we must. Considering who we have loaned. Steve Bruce this created conundrum for himself in regards to where they all fit. I cannot see how he gets all the outfield players on the pitch at the same time. Well not without a change of formation. Interesting times ahead. Hopefully exciting times. But I won’t hold my breath.

Albert Adomah

In his first season with us, he had the highest goal assist record. Then last season despite being frozen out and only involved because of Andre Green’s injury forced it. He scored 15 goals. Without his goals, Villa would have been mid-table at best. It’s almost a certainty Steve Bruce would have been sacked. I don’t get Bruce, Andre Green & Albert Adomah two weeks back, were our only real wingers. So bringing in El Ghazi and Bolassie created competition. “that’s healthy right”.  So what does Bruce do he sends Green immediately out on loan and then tries to force Albert out.

Bruce as previously frozen his own buys out. After bringing them to the club. Hogan Lansbury Bree. So he will not hesitate with those who are not his purchases. If it means he can accommodate new loan players into the squad so he can tinker. Then say’s he’s starting all over again.  Just to buy himself more time to hopefully land upon the lucky formula. So he gets a chance of winning a one-off game in a playoff final. In which he as a ready-made excuse for failure just in case in waiting. He’s a charlatan who just likes to rinse & repeat.
