Villa It’s Wednesday and Saturday

Last November Villa surrendered their unbeaten home record to Sheffield Wednesday. Which dated back to April. Conceding inside the first 16 seconds knocked the stuffing out of us.  If that was not bad enough. We lost John Terry to injury within 20 minutes. Shortly after he left the field, we went 2-0 down. This was followed by the loss of Robert Snodgrass just before the break. A late consolation goal in the 90th minute from Chris Samba couldn’t save our blushes. Yes, you’ve guessed it. Fernando Forestieri didn’t play that day either. You would have to ask Steve Bruce if the lad was suspended or not.

Villa Will history repeat itself

Before this, the last time Aston Villa lost to Sheffield Wednesday at VP in the league, was January 1997. We had the likes of  Yorke, Savo, Bosnich, Southgate, and the late Ugo Ehiogo playing for us. Given our home record and league positions. I don’t think any of us saw that defeat coming. Surely history cannot repeat itself ?. I think not, we’re only going to get better. So I am reliably informed by a man with a far higher IQ than most Villa fans. There were some encouraging signs thou Tuesday. If we play with the tempo of the first 25 minutes throughout, there’s not going to be a repeat of last November. And we will find ourselves in the top 6 this evening.

John Terry’s Replacement

There were moments on Tuesday where Villa nearly conceded. Against better opposition, we may well have done. So that is my number one concern, we have the fire power up top to hurt any team. But I am far from convinced our defensive frailties won’t come back to haunt us. I shouldn’t really be concerned thou. Because the Man with a higher IQ than most Villa fans as stated he’s found his replacement for John Terry. No, it’s not James Collins, who is currently training with us trying to earn a contract. Coincidentally that’s pretty much how Chris Samba ended up at VP. It’s Mile Jedinak, outstanding was the words I believe used to describe Mile Jedinak’s performance against Rotherham. Again my IQ is probably the issue here. But I doubt Mile Jedinak will get an easier game as CB all season.

I am only expecting one change today from the Villa team that started Tuesday. But I have a sneaky feeling he will want to accommodate Tuanzebe. I think Steve Bruce will reward Bolasie with a starting place & El Ghazi will drop to the bench. If that happens, Elmo is going to be left exposed. Because Bolasie will not trackback. As he’s an out and out winger. Steve Bruce is going to have to find a way where it works because he brought Bolasie to the club. Steve Bruce as probably not thought that far ahead bless him. Personally, I would use Bolasie from the start, then take him off. He’s still going to get his fitness levels up, and we will be more of a threat from the word go. We could well have the game won by the time he’s pulled off.
